Abstract
1,147,736. Cigar-making machines. ARENCO A.B. 14 April, 1967 [21 April, 1966], No. 17168/67. Heading A2C. [Also in Division G3] In a cigar bunch machine, tobacco is fed by an elevator 21 via a gate 20 and a shoot 19 into a mould 1 in which it is compressed by a reciprocating piston 4 and at the outlet 3 of which a laterally displaceable knife 5 cuts off portions of compressed tobacco pressed down against a plate 6. The conveyer 21 is synchronously operated with, and during a certain interval only of, the reciprocations of the piston 4, the length of the interval having a basic feed value slightly less than that required when working with a full hopper of tobacco above the elevator 21. Preset rods 13, 14 in conjunction with position switches 15, 16 sense two below-normal levels of the piston 4 during its movement. Actuation of the switches 16 or 15 and 16 when the tobacco level falls, closes holding coils on relays that in conjunction with synchronized cam-operated switches extend the feed interval of the elevator 21 above its basic value by one or two increments respectively.
