Abstract

995,521. Container closures. PRODUCT DESIGN & ENGINEERING Inc. Jan. 23, 1964 [Feb. 12, 1963], No. 3025/64. Heading B8T. A dispensing cap comprises a base member 10 mounted on a container and a fixed nozzle 18 on the base member, the nozzle having a neck 24 formed with one or more openings 41 in its outer end and with a plug 44 which is received in air opening 60 in a reciprocally mounted hollow cap 50 when the cap is downwardly positioned upon the nozzle. The lower inner surface 55 of the cap 50 slidably engages a lower annular shoulder 26 of the nozzle neck and an annular flange 56 is slidably received by a central portion 30 of the nozzle and is engaged by an annular shoulder 32 at the outer end of the nozzle when the cap is in its open position. The under surface of the plug is V-shaped and the cap 50 has a conical shaped top under surface 59 to aid the flow of liquid being dispensed. A lip 40 formed at the end of the nozzle engages the surface 59 of the cap 50 in its downward position to prevent leakage of liquid.
