995,131. Mounting lenses; telescopes. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. Ltd. April 3, 1962 [.Jan. 5, 1961], No. 452/61. Heading G2J. In an optical instrument such as a telescope with a tubular body 1, a lens 6 is held against a seating 5 by a spacer tube 7, the other end of which is integral with another optical element 8 (e.g. a graticule). The element 8 is engaged by a further spacer tube 11 having a seating for a lens 12, which is held in place by a screw ring 13. The body 1 may be formed of high impact polystyrene, the seating 5 being formed integrally therewith. Spacer tubes 7,11 are also of high impact polystyrene. An eyepiece 3 held in the body 1 by a screw ring completes the telescope.
