Abstract

An optical device, esp. for a telescope can increase magnification without increasing the size of the instrument. The optical device has an objective lens (4) which is used in conjunction with the eyepiece (6) of the main instrument. The eyepiece (6) and the objective (4) are mounted in a tube (3). The device also has an eyepiece (9) on a carrier (10) fitted to the tube (3). If the main instrument provides a magnification of 50, and the optical device gives a magnification of 10, the whole may give a magnification of 500. The device may be added to the Newton, Cassegrain or Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopic types.
