Abstract

This is an optical device for looking with virtually complete visibility inside a thick-walled chamber. The optical device comprises a first diverging optical system, called a wide-angle system, which is composed of a diverging (thick-edge) miniscal lens (11) and of a biconcave lens (12), a second optical system, called an image translator, composed of five plano-convex lenses (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5), and a third, accommodation system which is composed of a plano-convex lens (L6) and of an eyepiece (61), the result of which is that all the objects, seen from one point of a very thick-walled chamber, may be looked at with a quality equivalent to that which an optical peephole would allow if the walls of the chamber had been thin. The optical device is applicable to looking into certain chambers, such as strongrooms or strong-box rooms.
