Abstract

996,621. Sight-testing apparatus. H. M. F. ASHER. Aug. 22, 1962 [Aug. 22,1961], No. 30162/61. Heading G2J. The apparatus described and claimed in Specification 830,141 is modified by the omission of the transparency so that an image of light source 5 can be focused on the patient's eye and the latter received through semi-reflector 3. Between semi-reflector 3 and the observed may be an additional lens having the same focal length as lens 2 and disposed of the same distance from semi-reflector 3 so that an aerial image of the patient's eye is formed at a distance from mirror 3 equal to that of the source 5. This aerial image may itself be received through a magnifying eyepiece; which is coupled for movement with source 5 to maintain the symmetry of the arrangement. The eyepiece and the additional lens may be arranged so that either or both may be swung in a and or position. Source 5, lens 2 or the additional lens may also have a transverse movement in any meridian or be given a circular movement in this own plane. The instrument may be used to carry out three different methods of operation as explained in the Specification.
