Abstract

994,273. Respiratory masks. O. H. DRAGER, [trading as DRAGERWERK H. & B. DRAGER]. May 10, 1962 [May 15, 1961], No. 18104/62. Heading A5T. A respiratory mask comprises a body 1, the edge of which is releasably connected to a face engaging frame 7, connecting means 3 for the attachment of securing straps being mounted on the body so that, when the mask is secured by the straps, it bears gas-tightly against the frame, which then bears gas-tightly against the face. The frame is of U-shaped cross-section to provide a circumferential slot which either frictionally receives or is releasably clamped to the edge of the mask body. Tabs 2 on the body extend through apertures in the base of the slot and carry eyes 3 for the mask straps. The mask is made of transparent acetyl cellulose and has a filter 5 and an exhalation valve 6. The frame is made of foam or sponge rubber.
