[Also in Division B8] In a storage system (see Division B8) a load-carrying platform is pushed out of a storage compartment, lowered down a hatch, loaded or unloaded, and then hauled up the hatch and horizontally into the storage compartment, the means for moving the platforms consisting of chains running in closely fitting guides so that they can operate as both pushing and pulling elements. The system is substantially as described in Specification 946,854 except that, to keep the chains as light as possible, their dimensions are minimized and, as a compensatory safety measure, a cable 108 is secured to the chain links by brackets 106, 107.
