Abstract

Containers are fed between a lorry and a platform or elevator. The containers have rollers (5) to facilitate movement transverse to the lorry platform. Each container has an opening, communicating with enclosures which hold merchandise. There are transverse runways to allow the containers to slide and be guided. Telescopic legs are fitted to the ends of the runways and can compensate for level differences between the lorry and loading platforms. The containers can be of tubular construction. The telescopic legs may be operated by hydraulic means and the containers may be locked by pivotal catches (49).
