990,803. Electrostatic precipitators. SVENKSA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. July 6, 1962 [July 12, 1961], No. 26091/62. Heading B2J. An electrostatic precipitator, preferably with a horizontal gas flow, consists of one or more sections A, B, C each comprising a number of rows of freely suspended, preferably flat, electrodes, disposed in planes parallel to the gas stream, and means for rapping the electrodes, the electrodes of at least the first section A in the gas stream being divided into two groups a1, a2, and provided with double rapping mechanisms mounted one at each end of the section and each separately actuating one of the two groups of electrodes: Rapper rods 5 are fitted under each row of electrodes included in the section, these being actuated by hammers 6 secured on rotatable shafts 7 and the rapper rods 5 are arranged to act as recoil stops for each other. The two mechanisms may be driven so that there is a suitable time interval between the rapping of the groups a1 and a2, or the mechanisms may operate at different frequencies.
