Abstract

922,543. Electrostatic precipitators. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. May 5, 1961 [May 10, 1960 (3)], No. 16477/61. Class 117. The collecting electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator having a horizontal gas flow parallel to the electrode planes, each comprise a plurality of strips 6, 7 or 9 each having their ends bent normally to the central collecting wall to form an open-sided box section with at least one end of each strip formed to claw-section, the strips being connected end to end in the electrode assembly with adjacent strips opening to opposite sides and the collecting wall of each strip being strengthened by corrugations 8, Fig. 7, or indentations 10, Fig. 9, or by a depression, Fig. 5, which may extend for half the depth of the box section. Figs. 5 and 7 show strips having a claw-section formation at each end and Fig. 9 shows strips with a clawsection at one end only, the other end of each strip extending only for half the length of the claw-section end. In this latter case the strips are disposed as shown in relation to the arrowed direction of gas flow.
