Abstract

841,846. Electrostatic precipitation. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G. Feb. 6, 1959 [April 23, 1958], No. 4315/59. Class 39(1). An electrostatic precipitator consists of discharge electrodes with corona points 5 located opposite holes or openings 2 in box-type collecting electrodes 1. Preferably the distance between a corona point and its associated hole equals the diameter of the hole and the ratio of open area to solid area of the collecting electrode is between 1 : 1 and 1 : 3À5. The holes may be of triangular, square or polygonal shape instead of circular, and the holes on the two sides of the box-shaped electrodes may be staggered with respect to one another or opposed, in which case a central partition must be provided within the electrode.
