990,555. Mixing containers. COMPAGNIE DES ATELIERS ET FORGES DE LA LOIRE ST. CHAMOND - FIRMINY - ST. ETIENNEJACOB HOLTZER. Feb. 5, 1962 [Feb. 23, 1961], No. 4318/62. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F4] A rotatable drum, particularly a converter vessel 4, revolving in a cage structure 1 and rigidly but detachably secured to and between a pair of annular driving bands 2 angularly rotatable about a horizontal axis, e.g. each mounted on a pair of rollers 2<SP>1</SP> and each having a circular array of drive pins 3 for turning the bands so as to tilt the drum, is replaced e.g. for relining, by lowering the drum using a handling assembly to such a level that the upright drumcan pass under the lowest members of the cage structure and displacing the lowered drum to a desired place. The drum handling assembly comprises a bridge or platform frame 7 suspended by a hook 8 from a travelling crane (not shown), a pair of saddle bars 9 secured to and depending from each end of the frame 7, each bar 9 having a lower arcuate bearing surface engageable -with the upper segment of the respective band 2 to rest thereon when the drum is to be dismounted, and hoist means, such as four winches 14-17 from which depend pulley-blocks 14 1 -17 1 with terminal hooks 6 for engaging two pairs of anchor eyes 5 fitted on the drum, mounted on the frame 7. From the outer face of each saddle bar 9 may project three spaced, downwardly bent retaining fingers 11, 12, 13 for engagement between the different pairs of adjacent drive pins 3. The lower floor level may be fitted with track 22 on which rides a truck 20, adapted to carry the drum 4 when lowered.
