A box consists of wooden boards fitted into iron angles 65 and lies a lid comprising two interhinged portions 61, 63 whose edges are ironbound at 64. The upper portions 65<SP>1</SP> of the vertical edge irons 65 of the front wall 70 of the box are hinged to the lower portions of those irons, or the whole wall may be hinged at the base, so that at least the upper board of that wall can be swung outwardly. The edge iron portions 65<SP>1</SP> are releasably fastenable to the front portion 61 of the lid, the fastening means comprising a toggle 66 on the portion 65<SP>1</SP> engageable with a catch 67 on the lid. Holes 69, 69<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 3), in the fastener allow respectively for locking by padlock and sealed wire. If, as in Fig. 2, the box lid is closed while the front wall is in its outwardly-swung position, the box may leave further boxes stacked on it and still leave its contents accessible, access to the interior being facilitated by removal of the top board 70.
