Abstract

1504695 Portable containers METAL BOX Ltd 21 April 1975 [27 April 1974] 18554/74 Heading B8D In a plastics container closable by a metal closure and comprising a generally frustoconical, upwardly divergent wall 11 which extends from a base (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), and includes a shoulder portion 15, a frustoconical portion 14, an arcuate-sectioned portion 22 and an out-turned searing flange 20, at least the frusto-conical portion 14, and the outturned flange 20 are each of constant thickness and at least the wall portion 13 below the shoulder portion has a greater thickness than the flange 20. The frusto-conical portion 14, the arcuate portion 22 and the flange 20 may have a first constant thickness and the shoulder portion 15 and the wall portion 13 may have a second greater constant thickness. Alternatively the shoulder portion 15, the frusto-conical portion 14, the arcuate portion 22 and the flange 20 may have a first constant thickness which is less than that of the wall portion 13. In yet a further alternative the wall portion 13, the shoulder portion 15 and the frusto-conical portion 14 may have a constant thickness which is greater than that of the flange 20. The base (10) and the wall portion (13) have the same thickness. An upwardly and inwardly extending guard rib 23 may be provided on the shoulder portion 15 to shield the raw edge of easy opening, full opening closure seamed on to the container. The container may be of single or multilayer construction. The closure may also comprise a levering and lever lid combination.
