Abstract

989,434. Lamp holders. CALIFORNIA COMPUTER PRODUCTS Inc. May 15, 1961 [May 18, 1960], No. 17612/61. Heading H2E. A lamp-dimming adapter 10 comprises a female socket portion 12 for receiving an incandescent lamp and a male portion 14 for insertion into a three-way switching device (Figs. 2a . . . 2d, not shown), the male portion enclosing a rectifier 28 in its body insulation 42 one terminal 26 of the rectifier acting as a central contact for the male portion and its other terminal being connected both to an annular contact 24 of the male portion and to an inner terminal 20 of the female portion 12, outer screw contacts of the female and male portions 16 and 22 respectively being connected together. The three-way switching device which may be incorporated in a lamp fitting enables a lamp (not shown), which may be supplied via the adapter, to receive its supply either direct or through the rectifier.
