Abstract
617,745. Supply systems for fluorescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 1, 1946, No. 32510. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1945. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A fluorescent lamp operating on a high voltage is held in sockets so constructed that the lamp can only be inserted or removed in one way, one of the sockets being so constructed that removal of the lamp therefrom interrupts the supply circuit to the primary of the transformer supplying the high voltage to the lamp. Fig. 9 shows a socket 3, the spring contact 31 of which is connected to the high voltage secondary winding of an auto-transformer 6, the primary of which is connected to spring clip contacts 17 in a socket 2. The distance between the sockets is such that the lamp 1 can only be placed in position by first inserting the right-hand end in the socket 3. Removal of the lamp can only be effected by first removing the end 5.
