Abstract
572,517. Lamp-holders; two-part couplings. SALMON, F. Aug. 3, 1943, No. 12509. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp' holder for supplying a consuming device requiring an earthing connection comprises a moulded insulating body 1 having a metal liner 6 to which a third terminal 7 is connected to provide a holder for use with an adapter having a bady 19 mounting an earthing terminal 23 that is connected to the bayonet pin 24. The liner 6 has an extension 11 located so as to be engaged by a screw 12 that is screwed into the terminal 7. A partition 8 separates this terminal and the usual supply terminals 3. An earthing conductor leads from the terminal 7 to a clip 17 on the conduit or lead sheathing 18. The adapter described has an eye bolt 25, through which the pin 24 passes, screwed into the terminal 23 from which a conductor leads to the earthing contact on a connector 26. Alternatively the earthing terminals may be integral with the parts to which they are to be connected so as to be moulded into the body during manufacture.
