Abstract

989,240. Reciprocating pumps and motors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. July 8, 1963 [July 10, 1962], No. 26435/62. Heading F1A. In a swash plate pump or motor comprising a hollow body 1 formed at one end with an inlet and outlet (not shown) and containing a rotor 2 provided with a number of bores 3 containing pistons 4 having, on their outer ends, shoes 7 which engage recesses in a slipper ring 10 in facial contact with an obliquely disposed or disposable stationary cam plate 12, the shoes 7 and the recesses in the slipper ring 10 have complementary undercut and interengaging surfaces whereby the shoes 7 are prevented from movement away from the ring 10 in the direction in which the pistons 4 are reciprocable. Part circular undercuts in the ring 10 form lips 11 . which overlie flanges 8 on the shoes 7 to prevent movement of the latter. The cam plate 12 is pivotable about an axis 13 by a fluid pressure operated piston 14. Arcuate inlet and outlet ports (not shown) are formed in a valve plate 15 and communicate with the inlet and outlet in the body 1.
