Abstract

1,264,019. Reciprocating pumps. KNAPP MIKROHYDRAULIK G.m.b.H. Oct. 27, 1969 [Oct. 31, 1968], No.52625/69. Heading F1A. An oscillating piston pump comprises a flat sided piston 15 moving between end plates 8, 6 in a pumping chamber 29 formed in a housing 1 between the plates, the chamber having a circular portion 3 along which slide segment shaped guides 13, 14 whose flat surfaces seal against the sides of the piston. The piston is caused to oscillate by rotation of a shaft 7 having an eccentric 16 which runs in a transverse bore 20 in the piston. Liquid is supplied to and discharged from the chamber through respective valved ducts 9, 10 in the plate 8 these ducts being in constant communication with respective piston recesses 21, 22 leading to through bores 32, 33. These bores communicate with respective grooves 30, 31 in the plate 6 during certain parts of the pumping cycle thereby to control supply and discharge to the pumping chamber 29. Liquid which leaks into a bearing chamber 34 is sucked into the chamber 29 through passage 36 and a non-return valve 35.
