Abstract
986,320. Air cooled I.C. engines. GES. FUR LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN A.G. March 21, 1963 [April 21, 1962], No. 11205/63. Heading F1B. In an air-cooled reciprocating I.C. engine the perimeters of the cylinder cooling fins 2 are formed with recesses 2a in which the cylinder tie bolts 3 are accommodated separately from the fins and air conduiting 7 concentrates the forced air draught from a blower 6 along the planes of the cooling fins towards escape openings situated between re-entrant parts 10, 11 of the conduiting located and shaped to direct the cooling airstream completely over fin parts spanning and exposed to the escape opening. The fins of intermediate cylinders are bridged by elements 12 and valve push rods sleeves 5 are positioned to guide the air flow. The cooling arrangement may be applied to engines having one or more cylinders.
