A tear-up cap for containers having a beaded circular rim 2 comprises an aluminium foil 3 and a tearup lug 1 which is covered on its inside inclusive of tear-up lug 1 with plastically deformable plastic synthetic sheeting material. The cap is punched from the synthetic plastics covered foil and spun to form the cap on a former, which may be the container being capped. The plastic sheeting may be roughened to increase the adherence.
