Abstract

982,961. Clamp fastenings. GLASS CHEMICAL PLANT Ltd. Oct. 21, 1963 [Oct. 20, 1962], No. 39786/62. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] A pipe joint in which two flanged pipe-ends 10 and 11 are aligned on either side of a gasket 16 (see Division F2) is held together by a collar 19 comprising two parts 20 of channel section hinged together at 22 and held together at their other ends by a clasp comprising a lever 23 pivoted on the end of one part with an arcuate portion 26 adapted to engage the flat face of a right angled projection 27 on a lever 28 pivoted on the end of the other part. Angular displacement of the lever 23 tightens or loosens the collar and in doing so the portion 26 of the lever is displaceable across a vertical plane passing through the axes of rotation of the levers 23 and 28. In a modified form of over-centre device (not shown) for fastening the free ends of the collar a rectangular loop extends between and embraces hook parts formed at the said ends and is displaceable relatively to one of the hooks to open and close the collar, said displacement being effected by an over-centre clip to which one side of the loop is pivoted.
