Abstract

1304278 Branch pipe couplings T R CASSEL 6 April 1970 16102/70 Heading F2G A branch pipe 14 is secured to a through pipe 10 at an angle, the pipes having abutting openings, with the branch pipe supported on a concave ramp 24 adjacent the opening in the through pipe, and having an angled extending portion 42, 46 overlying the through pipe. The extending portion of the branch pipe 14 comprises an inwardly deformed part 42 of the pipe between the opening and the end of the pipe and seats on a part of the through pipe which has reduced external diameter 28 and is secured thereto by a U-clamp 58. The openings in each pipe 10, 14 are produced by cutting transverse slots. The ramp 24 is produced by inwardly deforming pipe 10 adjacent the opening. Seals of asbestos or similar material are located diametrically opposite at the junction of the openings, and are secured to the pipes by a U clamp 60 which also secures the joint.
