Abstract
981,385. Insulated electric conductors. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Jan. 16, 1964 [Jan. 16, 1963], No. 2059/63. Heading H1A. A conductor consists of a ribbon of metal foil 1 with two or more layers of porous insulating tissue 2 and 3 on one or both surfaces. The layers are stuck to one another and to the foil surface along mutually spaced lines of adhesive 4 and 5, which are positioned between the layers so that no two lines coincide. The ribbon may be wound in a roll for use as a transformer winding or other electromagnetic coil which is subsequently impregnated with insulating oil. With the lines of adhesive positioned as described, the oil has an uninterrupted path throughout the coil as indicated by the dotted line. The lines of adhesion may run transversely of the ribbon and also can be built up of a series of short lengths of adhesive.
