Abstract

A composition adaptable to use in aerosol form for inhalation therapy comprises finely divided particles of a water-soluble acid addition salt of epinephrine or isoproterenol dispersed in a non-toxic liquid propellant, said particles being coated with a dispersing agent comprising oleyl alcohol or a mixture of oleyl alcohol with other fatty alcohols having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms. The other alcohol may be myristyl, stearyl or cetyl alcohol. The propellant may be fluorinated or fluorochlorinated lower alkane or cycloalkane, or a mixture of such compounds; its preferred vapour pressure at 20-25 DEG C. is in the range 25 to 60 lb/square inch.ALSO:A composition adaptable to use in aerosol form for inhalation therapy comprises finely divided particles of a water-soluble acid addition salt of epinephrine or isoproterenol dispersed in a non-toxic liquid propellant, said particles being coated with a dispersing agent comprising oleyl alcohol or a mixture of olelyl alcohol with other fatty alcohols having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms. The propellant may be a fluorinated or fluorochlorinated lower alkane or cycloalkane, or a mixture of such compounds; its preferred vapour pressure at 20-25 DEG C. is in the range 25 to 60 lbs./sq. in.
