Abstract

An adhesive composition comprises polyvinyl butyral, a phenol-formaldehyde condensate of the resole type and an oxide of a metal of Group IV of the Periodic Table or of silicon. The composition may also contain ethyl alcohol. Preferred oxides are titanium dioxide or silicon dioxide. The ratio of polyvinyl butyral to resole is in the range 20-40 parts polyvinyl butyral to 60-20 parts resole. The oxide is preferably present in the range of 0.2-7.5% by weight.
