Abstract

976,121. Pile walls. W. DEGEN. Feb. 22, 1962, No. 6929/62. Heading E1H. A process of constructing a foundation wall formed of piles comprises sinking holes 2, 4 and 6, filling them with aggregate, sinking piles 1, 2 and 5 so that they cut into the holes 2, 4 and 6 and then impregnating the filled-in aggregate with cement grout or cement mortar. The centre-lines of the piles formed by the cement and aggregate in the holes 2, 4 and 6 are disposed in a plane offset from the plane containing the centre-lines of the piles 1, 2 and 5, towards the side which is exposed to the static load of the surrounding soil. The piles 1, 2 and 5 are concrete reinforced with steel bars 7. Tubes 8 are provided for injecting the cement grout. The piles may be rectangular in cross-section and they may be hollow. The junctions between the piles, on the face of the wall may be filled with packing to form a smooth face.
