Abstract

974,777. Supporting electric conductors. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Oct. 29, 1963 [Oct. 30, 1962], No. 41008/62. Addition to 909,338. Heading H2C. In a cantilever supporting arrangement for overhead lines, especially for railways, the strut, of which member 14 is the lower insulator, is hooked on to horizontal pins 12 about which it can rotate and the pin is carried on a member 9 in which is formed the socket member of a ball and socket joint 2. The ball is carried by a member 4 attached to the vertical supported so that the strut can rotate about the vertical axis through the centre of the ball. To prevent the strut rotating about its own axis socket member 9 carries a ring 11 which fits loosely around a fixed pin 8 so that member 9 can move only a little from the vertical. Removal of member 9 except at one angular position is prevented by a stop 18 and the insulator hooks can only be disengaged from the horizontal pins by rotating the insulator about the pins until flats on them pass through the hook entrance.
