Abstract

972,682. Hair driers. STANLEY BRIDGES Ltd. May 8, 1961 [Jan. 24, 1961], No. 2742/61. Heading A5R. A hair drier comprises a substantially U- shaped casing of which one limb constitutes a handle while the other houses a motor, fan and heater with its outer end forming the air discharge outlet. The handle and the base of the U have flat portions on either of which the drier can be stood on a supporting surface. In the embodiment described, the body comprises a handle 2 and motor and heater housing 1, set at an acute angle to each other, with flat faces 9, 10 formed on the handle and rear of the casing respectively. The drier may be stood on either of these surfaces on a horizontal surface so that air is directed upwardly at a small angle or substantially vertically. The rear part of the casing also has a spring-loaded loop by means of which it may be supported from a hook on a wall or pedestal 14 and the discharge nozzle has a bead or other projection 18 by which a hood 15 can be attached. Such a hood has a deflector 19 adjacent its air inlet.
