Abstract

1467642 Hair driers CHING HING CHIU 15 Nov 1974 [20 Nov 1973] 53846/73 Heading A5R A hair drier comprises a hot air blower having a main housing portion 10 including an air inlet 18 and a further housing portion 16 including an elongated air outlet 36, air being drawn through the blower by a fan 19, 20 and passing through a duct in the main housing portion containing a heater 28, which duct is formed in part by a tubular projection 34 of the housing portion 10 on which is rotatably mounted a tubular portion 35 of the further housing portion 16 so that a comb 44 carried by the main housing portion can, by rotation of the further housing portion, be positioned, within the air stream issuing from outlet 36 or clear thereof. Arcuate baffles 38 and an arcuate end wall 16a of housing portion 16 deflect the air flow through approximately 90‹. The tubular portion 35 mounts a housing 48 into which extends a rod 49 having a thumbpiece 49a and mounting a cam 47 which bears against a plate carrying a pin (51, Fig. 4a, 4b, not shown) selectively engageable in one of a plurality of apertures (51a Fig. 5 not shown) in the tubular projection 34 to retain the housing portion 16 in its adjusted position on the main housing portion 10. The comb 44 is carried by a bracket 40 screwed to the main housing portion 10 and a spring 53 coupled between the bracket and housing portion 16 biasses the housing portion 16 for rotation to a position in which the air outlet 36 is aligned with the comb.
