Abstract

1519458 Tumbler dryers HOTPOINT Ltd 17 Oct 1975 [23 Dec 1974] 55390/74 Heading F4G In a tumbler drier for clothes comprising a rotatable drum 4 mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis in a cabinet 1 having an air inlet 3 and an air outlet 20, a fan 6 for moving air, heated outside the drum at 38, from the inlet 3 through the drum 4 to the outlet 20, and means 70 responsive to the temperature of the exhaust air and operative to turn off the heater 38, means are provided for reducing the flow of air through the drum 4 to cater for small dense loads of clothes. The means consists of a circular, apertured shutter (58), see Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), overlying a grille (53) located over the inlet 3, the shutter being actuated by a solenoid (62) under the control of a push button (66) on a panel 67 to rotate the shutter and partly obscure the grille. The output of the heater 38 is reduced too.
