Abstract

907,532. Tumbler driers. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. Oct. 26, 1959 [Nov. 3, 1958], No. 36251/59. Class 34 (2). In order that a tumbler drier may be used with a rotating or stationary drum B the latter is driven by a drive wheel 17 which may be selectively brought into engagement with a tyre 18 on the drum. Such engagement is effected by a spring-loaded lever mechanism 24, 22, 35, Fig. 3, carrying a nylon shoe 29 and actuated by a solenoid mechanism 33 the control of which is effected through an electric circuit incorporated in the drier control. In operation, the lever 24 slides through a member 25 secured to the drier casing part 17<SP>1</SP> and causes the shoe to abut and move the tyre. The drum is pivotally mounted at its rear within a casing 10 by a universal joint 9 and drying is effected by air issuing from a fan assembly C and heated by a heater F.
