Abstract

1,107,070. Sieve drum driers. VEPA A.G. 9 Sept., 1966 [13 Oct., 1965], No. 40368/66. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] In a sieve drum drier the circulated air is directly heated by burners 13 mounted either at the end of the drum, as shown, or within the drum. The burners 13 are arranged annularly and exteriorly of the drum so that only the tips of the flames protrude into the stream of air pausing to the associated fans. Baffles 9, 10 direct the heated air and a filter sheet 8 is provided. In a modification the burner (16) is mounted on the drum axle within the drum and directs its flames only at that portion of the drum periphery covered with material to be dried so as to both directly heat the circulating air and heat the drum wall by conduction.
