947,369. Hair driers. E. MITTELSTEN SCHEID. Dec. 18 1961 [Feb. 11, 1961; Oct. 18, 1961], No. 45195/61. Heading A5R. [Also in Division A4] A hair drier including a fan is fixed in a case comprising a lower box portion 1 and a lid 2, the fan being disposed between the base of the lower box portion and a parallel partition 10 which has an air inlet, one air outlet being located in the space between the partition and the base and communicating with a connection member 26 and a second air outlet being in a wall of the lower box portion. An electric motor 17 extends through the partition into an apertured housing 11 above the partition. The main fan outlet, which is tangential to the fan, communicates by a duct 25, having heating means controlled by a switch 16, with the connection member 26. A hair drying hood may be connected by a flexible pipe with the connection member. The fan comprises two sets of blades, one set above the other, the blades 20, 21 of the upper set being in a chamber 23 and the blades 22 of the other set being in a lower chamber 24. Air from the upper chamber is delivered through the main outlet, a small amount of air passing into the lower chamber through an annular gap 36. Air is also supplied to the lower chamber through a slot 35 at the side of the case and is delivered through a louvred slot in the front wall of the case. An absorbent pad saturated with perfume is clamped in a comb which may be inserted in a pocket in the housing to perfume the air supplied to the fan. Pockets 41, 42 and 44 for bottles and curlers are provided in the partition. The lid of the box may be secured in open position by struts and carries a mirror 4 and a detachable plate 5 bearing cosmetic implements.
