Abstract

970,844. Spinnerets. MONSANTO CO. June 24, 1963 [June 25, 1962], No. 24996/63. Heading B5B. A spinneret for making conjugate filaments comprises a channel 12 divided into elongated chambers 13, 14 by an elongated T-shaped insert 11. The lower surface of the leg of the insert 11 is provided with spaced transverse grooves 18 which interconnect the chambers 13, 14 and communicate with spaced spinning orifices 19 in the bottom of channel 12 and beneath the leg of the insert 11. Spinning compositions from sources 22, 23 are fed into chambers 13, 14 through lines 24 and 25, flow through the grooves 18, meet at and exit through the orifice 19 as composite filaments 28. As shown, spaced bores 37 extending downward through the leg of the insert may be provided, each of the bores 37 being aligned with one of the spinning orifices 19, a third spinning composition from source 45 being fed through line 44 and slot 40 to the bores 37, so that the filaments 28 will be made up of three spinning compositions.
