Abstract

970,020. Periscopes. LOUIS MARX & CO. Ltd. March 6, 1963 [March 13, 1962], No. 8928/63. Heading G2J. A toy periscope comprises an eye opening 14, four windows 16, 18, 20 (are not shown) having different aspects, e.g. forwards, backwards and to either side, three mirrors 30, 32, 34 and control means which enable the viewer to see in any direction by changing the position of two (30, 34) of said mirrors. The mirror 30 is pivoted to a control rod 24 at 38 and to the housing at 36. For forward viewing the mirrors 30, 34 form a conventional periscope, and for backward viewing the mirror 30 is tilted by the rod 24 and light reflected on to it from the mirror 32 (Fig. 3). For sideways viewing the mirror 34 is rotated by the handle 26 until it is vertical and can then be rotated about a vertical axis.
