Abstract

1,109,913. Zoom lenses. RANK ORGANISATION Ltd. July 26, 1966 [July 26, 1965], No. 31812/65. Heading G2J. A zoom lens has a front normally stationary member, movable members, and a stationary rear member, wherein the front member is divided into three portions and focusing for different object positions is effected by movement only of the second or middle portion which is convergent and has a focal length lying between 0À25f A and 1À0f A (where f A is the focal length of the complete front member when focused for an infinitely distant object) whilst the first and third portions are divergent with focal lengths lying numerically between 1À5f A and 7À5f A . As shown the movable middle portion is formed by a pair of simple convergent components (i.e. S 1 and S 3 are variable). Optical data are given for three examples in the first of which, Fig. 1, the arrangement of zooming members is as in Specification 1, 064, 323 and in the other two, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) they are arranged as in Specification 1,109,912.
