Abstract

969,554. Gear pumps. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE GENERALE DE MECANIQUE APPLIQUES S.I.G.M.A. Feb. 23, 1962 [April 27, 1961], No. 7069/62. Heading F1F. The gears 3, 4 of a gear pump are supported on bushes 11, 12, 13, 14, either directly, as shown, or through ball or roller bearings. The bushes 11, 13 are urged against the gears by pressure transmitted to chambers 15, 16 through grooves 17, 18 positioned in the periphery of one or both bushes diametrically opposed to the meshing region. This pressure is augmented by springs 19, 20. Sleeves 33, 34, retained with about 0À2 mm. radial clearance in recesses in the casing, contain the ends 11d, 13d of the bushes 11, 13. When the pump is irreversible, as shown, leakage from within the sleeves is allowed to escape through passages 43a, 43 and past a check valve 45 and through the passage 27, to a chamber 47, and through a passage 47 to the inlet.
