Abstract
965,470. Gear pumps and motors. R. BOSCH G.m.b.H. Oct. 4, 1961 [Oct. 8, 1960], No. 35711/61. Heading F1F. In an hydraulic gear pump or motor, the gear wheel shafts on each side of the gears 6, 7, are journalled in a common bearing member 10, 11, pressed against the gear wheels and housing by hydraulic pressure, and a clearance 16 is formed between each member 10, 11 and the housing 1, through which high pressure fluid communicates with a region 17 on the end face of the member 10, 11, and an adjacent region 18 of the member 10, 11, on the low pressure side of the pump, whilst a region 23 on the end face of the member 10, 11, and a region 22 of the member 10, 11, communicate with the low pressure side of the pump. The regions are separated by seals 19 and 25, the former urged against the housing by high pressure fluid. Bores 28 and 29 communicate low and high pressures respectively. Each region 22 may be peripherally extended by grooves in the members 10, 11 (Fig. 3, not shown). If the apparatus is to be reversible, a further seal such as 19 and bore such as 29 are provided, being symmetrical to the seal and bore shown with respect to a plane passing through the axes of the gears, and the two regions 23 are connected by a bore through one gear shaft, and are connected to an oil leakage path instead of bore 28, or are connected to both sides of the pump through non-return valves, Figs. 5-7 (not shown). A region on the high pressure side of member 10 or 11 may be enclosed by an endless seal, and connected through a bore to the low pressure side, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown).
