Abstract

914,616. Rotary engines and pumps. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. Sept. 9, 1960 [Sept. 15, 1959], No. 31053/60. Class 110 (2). In a gear pump or motor, the cover 9, Fig. 1, is located with respect to the casing 1 by a cover projection 10 having a sliding fit in the bore 2 of two overlapping parallel bores 2, 2<SP>1</SP> in which rotate gears 7, 8 mounted between spectacleshaped bearing-bushes 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. The projection 10 is interrupted in the region of the bore 2<SP>1</SP> by a distance-piece 11 shaped to fit the intersection of the bores to prevent its rotation. The thickness of the distance-piece is selected to take care of the differences in the tolerances in the depth of the bores and the axial length of the bushes and gears to allow the longitudinal movement of the bush 4<SP>1</SP> necessary for the operation of the pump or motor. A figure " 8 " groove in the front face of the bearing-bush 4<SP>1</SP> fitted with an 0-ring 25 provides a pressure zone 26 connected by a passage 28 with the pump delivery chamber to cause a firm connection between the bushes and the gears during operation of the pump. A sealing-ring 29 fitted in a casing groove 30 seals the casing against leakage and a sealing-ring 13 inserted in the cover 9 prior to assembly seals the drive-shaft.
