Abstract

967,998. Packaging; lined cartons. BOFORS A.B. Oct.14, 1960 [Nov. 7, 1959], No. 35283/60. Headings B8C and B8P. A paper or the like carton, of the type formed by folding a sheet to form a prismatic tube and sealing it at its ends, has side walls which terminate along each longitudinal edge in a flat outwardly protruding flange of double thickness material one of the flanges being formed by free longitudinal edge portions, sealed together. The sheet material is preferably a long web of plastics coated paper, on which successive carton blank scoring lines are formed, the web being folded into a rectangular tube and filled with the material to be packed prior to trans. verse folding, sealing and cutting. The form of construction used provides four flat side walls which can readily carry print. Fig. 3 shows a portion of the web, the material for forming a single carton lying between the lines 24. The panels 8, 8<SP>1</SP> form the top and 9, 9<SP>1</SP> the bottom closures.
