Abstract

967, 228. Stringed musical instruments. ALBIN HAGSTROM A. B. March 26, 1963 [April 13, 1962], No. 11988/63. Heading G5J. A rod is disposed in a state of compression in a longitudinal groove in the neck of a stringed instrument so as to counteract the forces exerted by the strings on the neck. In the guitar shown, an I- shaped bar 8 of light metal is built into the neck and additional flanges 10 are turned to form a channel 9 accommodating a steel rod 13. The channel 9 is threaded at both ends to take set screws 11, 12 between which the rod 13 is held in compression. The fingerboard comprises a mass 7 forming smooth frets to facilitate finger sliding.
