905,447. Vibrato bridges. JENNINGS MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 6, 1960 [Aug. 10, 1960], No. 27643/60. Class 88 (2). A vibrato bridge for a stringed instrument comprises a base 1 of U-shaped cross-section having a pivot 3 supported by the sides of the U and carrying a platform 2 upon which is mounted a bridge assembly. The platform is pressed against a resilient member 4 by the tension of the string. The strings pass through slots in the edge of the platform and are terminated by balls which anchor them in position. The arm 5 attached to the platform is manually operated to rock the platform so changing the tension in the string to produce the vibrato effect. Screws 8 adjust portions of the bridge associated with the individual strings for tuning purposes.
