Abstract

1,142,486. Guitars. W.E. SMITH. 27 May, 1966 [28 May, 1965; 14 Sept., 1965; 2 May, 1966], No. 24033/66. Heading G5J. The electric guitar shown has a neck which is inclined to the surface of the simulated soundboard 12 so that the instrument may be played by a performer in a standing position. In the arrangement of Figs. 7-9 (not shown), the invention is applied to a guitar with a resonant chamber but in this case the surface of the neck is parallel to the upper surface of the chamber which is itself inclined to the lower, the cross-section of the chamber itself being wedge-shaped. An electric pick-up may also be provided. The Specification contains details of string tuning to assist in the selection of various chords.
