Abstract

966,578. Electric battery lamps. SONCA INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 31, 1962 [Sept. 19, 1961], No. 33568/61. Heading F4R. The cylindrical casing of an electric torch has an extension on the opposite side of the reflector and bulb holder to the battery space, closed by a transparent lens so as to form an air chamber of such size as to render the torch buoyant in water when the battery space contains the full complement of batteries. The body of the casing may have internal ribs which space the batteries from the walls of the casing. In the form shown, the body 11 is of plastics material with internal ribs 17 and is closed at one end by a cap 12 with the interposition of a gasket 23. A chamber 14 of transparent material closed at its outer end and with a radial flange at the inner end is secured to the body 11 by an elongated lens ring 13 with the interposition of a gasket 20 which also serves to hold the reflector 19 in place. The torch bulb 21 is mounted in the reflector 19. A push-button switch 24 is provided, covered by a flexible shroud 25, the periphery of which is secured between a threaded base 26 on the body 11 and a nut 27. The lens ring 13 may be of red transparent material.
