Abstract

821,461. Mounting electric lamps. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Oct. 10, 1957 [Nov. 9, 1956], No. 34247/56. Class 75(4) A holder for an electric light bulb 11 usable under water comprises an aluminium container 1 provided with a circular sealing ring 8, adapted to seal around the neck of the bulb when in place in the bulb holder socket 13, to render the container watertight, the socket being movable laterally in the container as by screws 14 passing through holes in the socket 13 of larger diameter than the screws, into the container base 1, to accommodate itself to eccentricities between the neck and the contact cap 12 of the bulb. The seal 8 is accommodated in a stopped central portion 7 of a cover 4 and is held in position by a plate 9 and screws 10, the cover 4 being sealed to the base 1 by a rubber gasket 5 and bolts 6. The socket 13 is set in insulating material 17. The supply leads 18 enter the container through a compression gland 20 containing a toroidal sealing ring 21 enclosed in a rubber sheath 22 sealed by clips 23 24. An aluminium guard 25 is located over the bulb by three bayonet slots 26 and studs 27 and fixed by a wing nut 28 and is roofed by a curved trellis 29 of aluminium strip.
