Abstract

966,080. Percussive tools. B.S.A. GUNS Ltd. Feb. 16, 1961 [Nov. 17, 1959], No. 38949/59. Heading B4C. In a tool driven from a rotary driving source, and comprising a body 10, a drive shaft 12a adapted to be secured to the source, a rotary hammer 17 having limited axial movement driven by the shaft, a cam 18 reciprocating the hammer, a spring 20 biasing the hammer away from the drive shaft, and an anvil 22 on a shaft 21 adapted to carry a tool, the cam is so shaped that the hammer is released suddenly when the spring is fully loaded. The shaft 21 carries a chuck 23 and the shaft 12a is engaged by the chuck of an electric hand drill. The shaft 21 may be given a part rotation by a spring-loaded plunger or plungers in the hammer engaging a recess or recesses in the anvil.
