Abstract

963,533. Nut runners. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. July 2, 1963 [July 3, 1962], No. 26143/63. Heading B3N. [Also in Division F2] A nut runner comprises an electric motor 10, a hammer 26, rotatably and axially displaceable on a shaft 32, an anvil 29, connectible with the hammer by a dog clutch 27, 28, 30, 31, ball couplings comprising balls 34 between shaft 32 and hammer 26, and V-shaped grooves 45 in the shaft. In operation, motor 10 is started, axial pressure is applied to the tool, and anvil 29 with shaft 32 is axially displaced to compress a spring 47 and engage claws 49 on the shaft with claws 23 of driving hub 22. The anvil thus rotates to screw up the work until the resistance to rotation increases to such an extent that hammer 26 is retarded relative to shaft 32 and is displaced axially to compress spring 33 and move balls 34 along portions 35a of grooves 45. Claws 27, 28 and 30, 31 are disengaged and spring 33 is released, thus causing balls 34 to move back along grooves 45 thus imparting an acceleration force to the hammer which moves axially, and claws 27, 28 impact with considerable force on claws 30, 31.
