Abstract

965,222. Concrete mixers. WINGET Ltd. July 11, 1961 [July 14, 1960], No. 24593/60. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F2] In a concrete mixer of the type having a stationary annular mixing pan 3, a hydraulic motor 27 suspended from the cover 5 of the central space 4 is supplied with pressure fluid from a pump external to the mixer. The motor 27 drives through a shaft 12 an overhanging rotor 25, 26 which carries mixing paddles 38 resiliently mounted by means of arms 39, bearings 41 and springs 43. The motor may drive the shaft 12 directly, as shown, or through reduction gear of not more than 2:1 ratio, and is preferably of fixed displacement type supplied by a fixed delivery pump, the speed of the motor being varied by a control valve which by-passes part of the pressure fluid, see Fig. 2 (not shown) and Division F2. Alternatively the pump may be of variable displacement, conveniently swash-plate type, see Fig. 3 (not shown) and Division F2. A relief valve in the hydraulic circuit may be arranged to limit the starting torque and control the acceleration of the mixing paddles. The pump may also operate rams, winches or hoists for charging and discharging the mixer.
